I’m thankful to be in the United States of America where we have unity, even in the divide, and we have the freedom to follow and serve God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Also, the freedom to choose to follow someone or something other than God.

I see more unity than division. We just get hung up on the smaller amount of division and focus on it too much.

I hope to be someone who loves well, spreads and encourages peace, and to encourage others to be reconciled to God.

“Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited, does not act improperly, is not selfish, is not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 HCSB

We all need to practice love and get better at loving God and loving others. Often we pray and aren’t patient with God. So often we are impatient at home with our spouse and children and at work with our coworkers. We are on social media and see others on trips and with new things or a new house and are envious. It’s something to be aware of and to pray and ask God for help with, that is to become better at loving Him and loving others.

A good and popular prayer is the prayer of Jabez.

“Jabez called out to the God of Israel: “If only You would bless me, extend my border, let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will not cause any pain.” And God granted his request.”

1 Chronicles 4:10 HCSB

The reason God granted his request is that his motivation and heart was correct. He wasn’t loving money and serving money. He was loving and serving God and loving and serving others.

As we pray, what is our motivation?

As we pray and ask God for His will to be done in our election in 2020, are we really praying that God’s will is done or are we praying a selfish prayer? What are we motivated by? Are we motivated by what we think is right or wrong or what God’s word tells us is right or wrong? We should love others, especially our fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ, who have voted alternatively to our vote. We must be unified in Christ Jesus.

“So then, we must pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another.”

Romans 14:19 HCSB

Let’s promote peace and be peaceful. Let’s help people see the good, the unity within the divide of world view, political view, or religious view, and let’s help people see The Way, The Truth, and The Life.

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 14:6 HCSB

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come. Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.” He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 HCSB

As we all look for the vote to come in, let’s keep what is most important, at the center and core of our lives. Jesus Christ has freely given all people a path to be made right with God and live forever with Him in eternity. The alternative is to live selfishly with all the other selfishness in the world in eternity without God.

Don’t be selfish. Don’t be provoked. Pursue what promotes peace and builds up one another. Be reconciled to God!
