at home toddler fun {day 5} to the moon!

Planes, trains, automobiles.  J#3 is a typical boy and is in love with anything that zooms.

Including rockets.  In fact, at school right now they are studying “space” and it looks like he is always one of the first to line up to enjoy their big spaceship they can play in there.  So.  I knew this one would be a hit.

I did a lot of the construction, but the kiddos took part in decorating.  Evidently, I’m a little obsessed with using rolls.  First there were paper towel rolls and now we have empty toilet paper rolls.

Take the rolls, wrap them with tin foil. Cut a circle out, and then a slit in the circle to wrap into a cone for the top.  Cut a semi circle and two slits on the bottom of the roll for the “wings”.  Then let ‘em loose with the stickers!

Instant fun.

And that flop from yesterday? We put it to use.

And made a MUCH bigger rocket.

Fun times.

And better yet?  These are toys that will be sticking around and making frequent appearances, I’m sure.

P.S.  I found this idea over at Naturally Educational.  They provide some ideas for space themed books as well!
