Callings. Vocations.
Some of us have them, some of us don’t.
But the people throughout my life I’ve seen that seem to have known what they “wanted to be when they grew up”, and then actually did it?
Teachers.

And in honor of the beginning of the school year in places throughout the world, I wanted to take a few minutes to pay tribute to one of the most important jobs in the world.
You had one, didn’t you? That one teacher who would help form your life, would inspire you to do that one thing–that something special. {Even if you are still waiting on doing it..like me {wink}}. The teacher I had that did that? Miss Gulden, fifth grade.

She’s the first person who told me I was a good writer {well, after my Mom, I’m sure}. That will stick with me throughout my life. It shaped my path through high school {really, probably even had something to do with my being married…since the place I first met J#1 was in my high school journalism class}, through college and is shaping my life right now as I blog {and maybe do more with it?}.
These people who are called to guide children will have one of the greatest impacts on our children’s life outside of family and close friends. And I’m thankful that a few of my best friends are teachers–through them, I’ve come to understand the work, dedication and effort that teachers put into their jobs.
Also, so that as J#3 starts (nursery) school this week, I remember to afford the teachers whom will care for him on a daily basis the respect that they deserve.
Here’s to you teachers! Cheers! {in the form of an apple, of course.}
